  10.        The Silicon Graphics ImageVision Library (IL) 3.1.1
  11.        Execution environment is required on any system that runs IL
  12.        programs.  Applications such as Indigo Magic, the desktop
  13.        environment, Insight and the ImageVision tools all require
  14.        this subsystem. Since the necessary il_eoe subsystems are
  15.        installed as a default, most users should not have to
  16.        concern themselves with further details.  However, the
  17.        curious user may be interested in using IL derived tools or
  18.        programming directly with the IL.  You can refer to the
  19.        ImageVision Tools book or the IL man page for some example
  20.        applications derived from IL.

  22.        IL Execution environment software consists of a primary
  23.        library for C++ as well as supporting libraries for C and
  24.        Fortran based applications.  Additionally, a set of
  25.        libraries used for supporting several file formats are
  26.        included in the il_eoe subsystems.  The IL reference man
  27.        page contains more information about IL derived
  28.        applications.

  30.        Important note: for backwards compatibility, the IL 2.5.1
  31.               and IL 3.0 libraries are included in the ImageVision
  32.               Library 3.1.1 release. This allows applications
  33.               linked with IL release 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.5.1 or 3.0 to
  34.               continue to run. However, to take advantage of
  35.               performance tunes and bugs fixed since the IL 2.5.1
  36.               or IL 3.0 release, or to work with OpenGL you must
  37.               recompile and relink against the IL 3.1.1 libraries.
  38.               IL 3.1.1 is binary compatible with IL release 3.1.

  154.        the Tools submenu of the Toolchest. This displays the
  155.        _g_r_e_l_n_o_t_e_s(1) graphical browser for the online release notes.
